Dawn Mountains Farm

Pros: Beautiful manor style house with spacious rooms/apartments. Stunning grounds to walk around.

A fantastic base for exploring the area, but not the site itself.

Pros: The tent itself is gorgeous, as were the hot tub and the braai facilities and the morning view.

Cons: The pool area and the rest of site seemed more like a general wedding venue (which we found out it was). It was also very noisy at night.

The perfect base for exploring the wine farms

Pros: A great base when exploring the wine farms in the region. The tents are spacious, well equipped and we loved the deck with the hot tub and the professional braai facilities (plenty of firewood and coal) The setting is pretty spectacular when the mountains are reflecting in the dam. Check in was very easy and flexible. We will be back.

We had a lovely time despite the significant disruption to our sleep on our final morning

Pros: The hot tub was lovely and the kitchen was really well equipped. The bed and lounge was also very comfortable.

Cons: Unfortunately the cottage is next door to their events space and there was some minor noise in the afternoon while they were setting up. While this was perfectly fine, what was unacceptable was that they began pitching a stretch tent at 6:15am on Sunday morning with no warning given to us whatsoever. On top of that, staff then started with leaf blowers outside the cottage at 7am which then caused an even more significant disruption to any hopes we had of a lie in. Best to confirm that there are no events on should you wish to stay in the cottage.

Cons: Access from Franschhoek currently very badly effected by roadworks. No information was shared about this. Additionally, all other facilities at the location are currently closed.

Great weekend getaway option

Pros: The facilities are very well thought through. Setting is beautiful and definitely want to go back

Pros: The location was perfect as we were attending a family wedding at a nearby winery. The two bedroom apartment we had was lovely and very spacious. My room was separate to that of my parents' suite but right next door. A lovely setting with ponds, trees, vineyard and guava orchard. Simon at the gate was most friendly and attentive. The pool was nice but we didn't swim as the weather was not warm.

Cons: We were met by the housekeeper as apparently the manager/s was/were on leave. The owner of the property came around to say hello and check on things. We had alot of trouble with the television (no instruction provided on how to use it) and the kitchen was rather sparsely outfitted. No washing machine/dryer on the premises so you have to go into town to a laundromat. The door to my bathroom was warped at the bottom and so didn't open and close properly. Quite a few bugs in the room (cricket, spider, etc.) on arrival which was a bit disconcerting. No one told us there was another entrance to the property which we could have used at night when the guard was out patrolling.
