Pros: In the cottage they left us a bottle of Saxenburg wine. Also, an invitation to have a Free Wine Tasting Experience. What a lovely gesture! It was very peaceful and we felt very safe. Eugene, at the Gate, was so friendly and helpful. The Barbeque facilities offered was such a bonus. We really enjoyed our stay!

Lovely cottage
Pros: Lovely cottage that made for comfortable accommodation for my family (including 2 elderly parents). The kids also loved cooling off in the pool. We stayed over the weekend so didn't get to interact much with the staff, but those we did encounter were very friendly. The restaurant was also great (Warren was a fantastic waiter who took very good care of us). Overall lovely experience!

Beauty, calm and comfort
Pros: The apartment is comfortable and have an amazing view! We could also use the pool and my son really enjoyed to be so close to the vineyards and pass by the animals in the park every time we got to the farm. The farm is close to the airport but also only 30 minutes from Cape Town and 20 minutes from Stellenbosch. So we could visit both easily. There is a supermarket 10 minutes away by car. Security was also important for us, and they have a security guarita that controls everyone that is in or out. One night we were tired and didn’t want to leave so we had dinner at the restaurant they have in the farm.

Wonderful
Pros: We loved that we had no neighbors, no noise, we could braai outside, we felt safe and secure, we had a huge place to park with our large trailer right outside our cottage. Evening and early morning owls were swooping around and appear to be nesting in the barn roof next door, which was wonderful to see. We could also see Zebra, springboks, Impala, and wildebeest from our verandah. Mandy was so accommodating when my son broke his collar bone, and we needed stay an extra day.
Cons: The only negative comment is the lack of a two prong plug adaptor, but we bought one close by. Ooo, and don't bother going to the on-site but not affiliated Cattle Baron restaurant....the food is awful, staff sulky and unprofessional with miserable attitude and atmosphere, which is a pity as it's very convenient.

A magical, authentic South African escape — beautiful, comfortable, and unforgettable
Pros: Everything! The farm is absolutely beautiful — from the moment you drive in and see the wildlife, you’re surrounded by the true feeling of South African nature and culture. The flat was spotless, modern, and had everything we needed. Sitting among the vines with a view of Table Mountain felt surreal — like being in The Lion King! The pool was fantastic, the wine delicious, and the staff incredibly friendly. It truly felt like a home away from home.
Cons: Honestly, nothing! We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Best place we’ve stayed in the Winelands – breathtaking views, amazing sunset, super comfy and clean
Pros: A hidden gem in the Winelands!! Super clean, spacious, and comfy. It felt like a private oasis. The views are truly unforgettable, absolutely breathtaking, with Table Mountain in the distance, wildlife roaming at the front of the property, and sunsets that are nothing short of magical. Enjoying a glass of Saxenburg wine while watching the sky change colours was one of the most memorable moments of our trip. Our stay felt effortless yet special. It’s rare to find a place that balances country charm with the little luxuries so perfectly. Close enough to Cape Town and Stellenbosch for exploring, yet tucked away in its own peaceful world, Saxenburg is without a doubt the best place we’ve stayed in the Winelands. Truly unforgettable - I couldn’t recommend it more highly.
Cons: I couldn't fault them.
